Carli Carrara's poems trace the jagged geography of childhood and adolescence the terrors, reliefs, wonderments, cruelties, and yearnings. She pulls the curtain back on a girl caught between two unhappy parents. A girl full of insights and intuitions that are eventually redeemed by the candor of adulthood and the art of poetry. Touching the wound and seeing it fully both require courage. Carli Carrara has a great deal of it.

Carli has written a very moving book that has touched me in many ways. She has painted pictures, many painful pictures, that are so clear to see. You can see the fearful and lonely child but you can also sense that the adult is able to look back and still find beauty in small remembrances. I applaud her courage to go back over her life and put her thoughts on paper. There are not many of us who could or would do that. A wonderful, thought provoking book that will stay with me for quite awhile.Product details

TwoFaced Doll edition by Carli Carrara Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Thank you, Carli. Your beautiful and moving poetry expresses deep, painful, and tender realities, but your willingness to face them and work through them through poetic expression has surely helped you become the strong, wise and talented person you are today.
Carli writes beautifully and eloquently of her sad childhood experiences. I admire her for sharing these painful memories. She is truly a survivor.
Great poems! A cross between Mad Men and The Great Santini (if they were poetry). A look inside another generation (the 40's and 50's) where men and women played out the roles they thought they should play.
Carli Carrara's first published book of poetry -sends forth sparks of creativity that challenge both mind and heart. The recalling of an alcoholic father sobers her verses and makes Two Faced Doll into poetry to be read and re-read.
Thank you Carly for writing so magically about experiences in your life. You artistically describe the awful, and the beautiful---fused together. This poetry reflects the development of your ability to face your world, from the inside and the outside. It helps readers to relate to their own experiences and begin an optimistic journey---This journey never ends, please continue to open the doors to continue life's unpredictable world.
Carli Carrara's poems are powerful, with language and imagery so crisp and beautiful that they took my breath away. While I am sure that her poetry would resonate with a wider audience (or should!), the fact that we are the same age and come from similar backgrounds made it hit me in the gut.
Congratulations on a fine and moving work, Carli.
Two-Faced Doll by Carli Carrara is powerful expression of sensitivity, endurance and redemption. Carli closes Playing Sardines with "I wait to be found". Her poems tell us she found herself through nature, through poetry and through pure determination. She had great courage to dig and find seeds for growth in her past with which to affirm her present. At the Lake gives the reader an insight to this nascent courage, "I touch those cellophane wings in spite of my father". This collection of poems offers the reader time and space to explore and grow in their center as Carli did in her poems
